vAir Force Training Group

vAFTG manages the training of RAAF Virtual aircrew through the Air Academy at RAAFv Base East Sale in Victoria & RAAFv Base Pearce in Western Australia. Also responsible for activities at RAAFv Base Point Cook, including Elementary Flying Training and Heritage flight activities, vAFTG is one of the busiest groups in RAAF Virtual.

Elementary Flying Training School flies the Diamond DA-40 NG out of RAAFv Base Point Cook in Victoria.

RAAF Virtual uses this unique take on the Australian Air Force Cadets to introduce all new aircrew to RAAF Virtual processes and procedures.

vNo 2 Flying Training School trains v1FTS graduates on advanced miltiary flying techniques, formation, low level and IFR navigation on the Pilatus PC-21 at RAAFv Base East Sale in Victoria.

v32 Squadron / AMTS

Airframe : Beechcraft King Air 350

Aircrew wanting to move onto multi-engine aircraft, such as the C-17 Globemaster III, C-27 Spartan or 737, all progress to 32SQN for training on multi-engine aircraft at RAAFv Base East Sale.

Those wanting to pursue weapons systems officer roles will progress through Air Mission Training School (AMTS) closely linked with 32SQN.



vAir Mobility Group

As one of the largest Force Element Groups (FEG), vAir Mobility Group is tasked with vADF's combat air mobility capability, be it logistics, air-to-air refuelling or aeromedical evacuation amongst others.

v33 Squadron

Airframe : KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport
Location : RAAFv Base Amberley, QLD
Platforms : MSFS

Operating the KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) a modified Airbus A330 airframe, v33 Squadron performs air-to-air refuelling, troop movement and aeromedical evacuation roles for RAAF Virtual.

v34 Squadron

Airframe : Boeing 737-700 Business Jet
Location : vDefence Establishment Fairbairn, ACT
Platforms : MSFS

The BBJs of v34 Squadron provide an agile transport capability that can carry Government and staff within Australia and overseas.

The BBJ has a crew of up to six (pilot, co-pilot, and up to four crew attendants) and is capable of carrying up to 30 passengers.

v35 Squadron

Airframe : C-27J Spartan

The C-27J Spartan complements RAAF Virtual's existing air mobility fleet.

v35 Squadron provides airlift of people, equipment and supplies in Australia and the Oceanic region, operating from unsurfaced airstrips, and supporting humanitarian missions in remote locations.

v36 Squadron

Airframe : C-17A Globemaster III

The C-17A Globemaster III provides RAAF Virtual with an unprecedented capacity for strategic airlift. It allows RAAF Virtual to rapidly deploy troops, supplies, combat vehicles, heavy equipment and helicopters anywhere in the world.

37 Squadron

Airframe : C-130J Hercules
Location : RAAFv Base Richmond, NSW
Platforms : MSFS

37 Squadron operates the C-130J Hercules to deliver cargo to airfields with short unsurfaced runways, and airdrop cargo and paratroops by parachute.

The C-130J Hercules can carry up to 128 passengers, or eight pallets of cargo. It can work alongside other airlifters, including the C-27J Spartan and C-17A Globemaster III.



vAir Combat Group

vAir Combat Group controls all RAAF Virtual's fast-jet combat aircraft to enable control of the air and conduct precision air strikes.

vAir Combat Group also maintains a busy training schedule for RAAF Virtual front line currencies, including participating in important exercises such as Exercises Virtual Pitch Black in Australia and Virtual Red Flag in the United States.

Operated by v3 Squadron, the F-35A Lightning II is the RAAF Virtual's first fifth-generation air combat capability. It is a highly advanced multi-role, supersonic, stealth fighter which will meet our requirements to defeat current and emerging threats.

Operated by v75 Squadron, the F-35A Lightning II is the RAAF Virtual's first fifth-generation air combat capability. It is a highly advanced multi-role, supersonic, stealth fighter which will meet our requirements to defeat current and emerging threats.

v76 Squadron

Airframe : Hawk 127
Location : RAAFv Base Williamtown, NSW
Platforms : MSFS

Graduates then progress to an advanced course at RAAF Base Williamtown for air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons training with the Hawk. Only then can pilots progress to conversion to the F/A-18F Super Hornet or F-35A Lightning II.

v79 Squadron

Airframe : Hawk 127

Platforms : MSFS

The Hawk is a low-wing, all-metal aircraft, fitted with a navigation and attack system, and powered by a single Adour Mk 871 turbofan engine.

Fast Jet streamed aircrew complete an Introductory Fighter Course at RAAF Base Pearce with the Hawk 127, which includes general flying, instrument flying, formation flying, night flying and navigation.



vSurveillance & Response Group

Formerly vSurveillance and Control, and Maritime Patrol Groups. vSRG's motto 'Foremost Sentinel' encapsulates the Group's contribution as the early warning and response capability of the RAAF Virtual.

v2 Squadron

Airframe : E-7A Wedgetail
Location : RAAFv Base Williamtown, NSW
Platforms : MSFS

With its ability to command and control large areas of airspace, the Wedgetail’s ability to coordinate a joint air, sea and land battle in real time significantly increases the effectiveness of RAAF Virtual.

Coupled with a VATSIM qualified Fighter Controller, E-7A Wedgetail teams coordinate tactical activities on the VATSIM network.

Airframe : P-8A Poseidon

Platforms : MSFS

With its highly impressive technical attributes, the P-8A Poseidon brings flexibility, responsiveness and attack capability to the Joint Force in its primary roles of Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare, Maritime Surveillance and Search and Rescue.
